SAFE geared for global markets

SAFE marketing and sales manager Wibo van den Ende left Cape Town this month to offer European clients the best of South African table grapes and citrus.

“I am excited by the opportunities that present themselves to us post Brexit” he said. “Following the UK decision to leave the European Union, there has been market uncertainty. I hope to be able to use this to the benefit of our South African offering”.

South African Fruit Exporters (SAFE) own and manage citrus and table grape farms and fruit packing sheds in South Africa. For more then two decades they have supplied markets in the European Union, the UK, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia as well as in the Middle and Far East.

“Our planted hectares now include the latest varieties and will result in SAFE’s export volumes doubling over the next four years,” said van den Ende.

“More than 50% of our table grapes are grown under nets and 89% are seedless table grape varieties. Eighty three percent of our citrus is black spot free and 30% of our planted hectares are younger than 3 years old.”

With this behind me, I am certain that I will attract the interest of key buyers for global markets to our product”.

Not only does SAFE plant, harvest and pack, grapes and citrus, they are also able to pack directly into client-centric packaging, branding and labelling, van Ende added.
